Strong First Half Leads Plymouth Over Field Hockey

Framingham, Mass. – The Plymouth State field hockey team defeated Framingham State by a score of 7-1 in Little East action Saturday afternoon in Framingham. With the win the Panthers are now 5-1 and 3-0 in Little East play. The Rams are now 1-3 and 0-3 in league action.

The Panthers controlled play for all of the 1st half outshooting the Rams 22-0 in the period and taking a 6-0 lead into the break. They received two goals from Haley Wakefield (South Paris, ME) and goals from Patty Newhard (South Dennis, Mass.), Keeley Bartolini (Topsham, ME) Kaihley Rafferty (Salem, Conn.) and Katie Martin (Waterbury Center, VT).

Lily Davis (Boscawen, NH) got in on the action about halfway though the second frame to extend the lead to 7.

The Rams got on the board in the 61st minute when Gina Bellevue (Newton, Mass.) scored on a one-time pass from Sydney Buono (Ashburnham, Mass.).

The Panthers outshot the Rams 28-to-4 and attempted 16 penalty corners to the Rams 1. 

Alivia Bates (Pennsauken, NJ) earned the win net for the Panthers before giving way to Jessica Distler (Brookfield, NH) and Molly Henne (Reading, VT). Haley Duggan (Framingham, Mass.) made 13 stops in net for the Rams.

The Rams return to action on Tuesday, September 19th when they host Worcester State at 4:00 p.m. The Panthers host Keene on the same day.
