Field Hockey Drops Little East Matchup with Bridgewater

Framingham, Mass.-  The Framingham State field hockey team was defeated by Bridgewater State by a score of 7-0 in a Little East Conference matchup Tuesday afternoon in Framingham. With the win the Bears improve to 4-2 and 1-3 in Little East play. The Rams slip to 0-5 and 0-4 in the league.

The Bears got off to an early lead when Brittany Cullinane (Lunenburg, Mass.) scored the first of her five goals on the day in the seventh minute with Tori O'Dea (South Dennis, Mass.) assisting. The Bears scored again a few moments later when Hanna Ciavarra (Holliston, Mass.) tapped in a cross from Samantha Hayes (Norwood, Mass.). The visitors rounded out their first half scoring when O'Dea scored with Christine Curran (Ayer, Mass.) assisting.

The Bears pulled ahead in the second frame when Cullinane scored four straight goals to open the half to extend the lead to 7-0 to reach the final margin.

Allison Chappell (Raynham, Mass.) started and made two saves for the Bears before being relieved by Jillian Delaney (Foxboro, Mass.) who made three saves. Haley Duggan (Framingham, Mass.) made five stops in goal for the Rams.

The Rams return to the field on Thursday, September 22nd when they host Regis at 4pm in non-conference action. The Bears will host Fitchburg State in a Little East matchup on Saturday, September 24th.
