Field Hockey Sixth Seed in ECAC Division III New England Tournament

Centerville, Mass. – The Framingham State University field hockey team has been selected the sixth seed and after finishing the regular-season with a 13-6 record, Plymouth State University was selected as the No. 1 seed in the 2013 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Region Field Hockey Championship.

The tournament is a six-team field with a quarterfinal round followed by a semifinal and championship round.  The Rams last appeared in the ECAC Tournament in 2009 during fifth year head coach Meg Carlisle's first season on the bench.

In the first-round contests on Wednesday, November 13th, third Bridgewater State University (15-5) will host sixth Framingham State University (9-9) at 3 p.m. while fourth seeded Smith College (11-8) will face No. 5 Worcester State University (11-8) at Smith College at 2 p.m. In the six-team field, both Plymouth State and University of New England received byes for being placed as the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds, respectively.   

The first-round winners will advance to the semifinals on Saturday, November 16th hosted by top-seeded Plymouth State University. The winner of Smith College vs. Worcester State will face Plymouth State at 11 a.m. in one semifinal and the winner of Bridgewater State vs. Framingham State will face #2 University of New England in the second semifinal at 2 p.m. The semifinal winners will meet Sunday, November 17th at noon for the championship in Plymouth, N.H.

First Round – Wednesday, November 13th
No. 5 Worcester State (11-8) at No. 4 Smith College (11-8), 2:00 PM
No. 6 Framingham State (9-9) at No. 3 Bridgewater State (15-5), 3:00 PM

Semifinals – Saturday, November 16th at Plymouth State University
No. 1 Plymouth State vs. Winner of No. 5 Worcester State at No. 4 Smith College, 11 AM
No. 2 UNE vs. Winner of No. 6 Framingham State at No. 3 Bridgewater State, 2 PM 

Championship – Sunday, November 17th at Plymouth State University
Two Semifinal Winners, 12:00 PM

 

About the ECAC

The ECAC is the nation's largest and the only multi-divisional athletic conference in the country with more than 300 Divisions I, II, and III colleges and universities. The ECAC stretches from Maine to North Carolina and westerly to Colorado.
