Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University field hockey team suffered a 6-0 setback to league-leading Keene State in a Little East Conference (LEC) field hockey matchup on Saturday afternoon at Maple Street Field.

The Owls improved to 15-3 on the year and 10-0 in conference play. Framingham State currently sits at 8-9 overall and 2-9 in LEC action.

Keene State staked a 2-0 lead in the first 35 minutes. Freshman Kayla Renaud (Somers, Conn.) and senior Leddy Gallagher (Acton, Mass.) teamed up for the first tally of the afternoon just 1:57 into the contest. In the 33rd minute, junior Melissa Habelow (Belmont, Mass.) tucked the ball into the right corner of the cage off a dish from classmate Marisa Lemoine (Berlin, N.H.).

Following the break, Gallagher setup Forgione and senior Katelyn Simula (Bridgewater, N.H.) as each scored on a one-timer 1:37 apart, beginning with Forgione's marker at 38:56. Freshman Lauren Roche (Acton, Mass.) then notched her first collegiate goal courtesy of a penalty stroke at 42:37. Seven seconds earlier, sophomore Lyndsie Rabenius' (North Hampton, N.H.) shot was saved by freshman Amy Hanas (Conway, Mass.).

The flurry of action yielded a shot on goal by sophomore Cady Kelly (Canton, Mass.) and senior Kaitlyn Ranieri (Bellingham, Mass.) with Habelow notching the defensive save on both attempts.

The final Keene State marker came in the 64th minute when senior Mary Dematteo (Northford, Conn.) doled out an assist to Rabenius who took the shot from the left side.

Sophomore Meaghan Dwyer (Rutland, Mass.) was not called upon to make a stop and picked up the shutout in her second career collegiate start (1-0). Freshman goalkeeper Sarah Palace (Auburn, Mass.) racked up nine saves in the defeat (6-9). Overall, Keene State held a 20-2 advantage in shots and was awarded 18 of the 24 penalty corners.
