Three Rams Named to LEC Fall All-Academic Team

Framingham, Mass. - Sophomore midfielder Kristin Gentili (Franklin, Mass.), junior forward Kristen Sacco (Mendon, Mass.) and senior midfielder Katie Wotherspoon (Stafford, Conn.) were named to the 2009 Little East Conference (LEC) All-Academic Team announced by the Little East Conference office. 

To be eligible for the LEC All-Academic squad a student-athlete must be a full-time member of a varsity team, at least a sophomore athletically and academically, and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.3.

Gentili, who is a food and nutrition major, started all 20 games for the Rams this season and finished with a goal and five assists as well as a defensive save.

Sacco, who was the 2007 LEC Rookie of the Year and a first-team LEC selection in 2007 and 2009, ranked third in the conference this season with 43 points and 20 goals.  Sacco became the Framingham State All-Time leading scorer during the season in addition to breaking the school records for goals in a season and career.  Sacco is an art education major at FSC.

Wotherspoon, who is a biology major, received all-conference accolades for the first time in her career in 2009 and receives all-academic honors for the third time in her career.  She led the Rams with three defensive saves on the season.

The Rams finished the 2009 season in a four way tie atop the LEC Standings and were eliminated in the semifinals of the conference tournament. They received the third seed in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) New England Division III Field Hockey Championship, where they were upset in the opening round.
