Field Hockey Selected Third Seed in ECAC Tournament

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State College field hockey team was selected to participate in the 2009 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) New England Division III Field Hockey Championship as the third seed.  The Rams will host sixth seeded Endicott College, who finished the season 11-8 after losing in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Semifinals last week, on Wednesday, November 11th at 1 p.m. 

The Rams, who went 15-4 and set a school record for win this season, shared the Little East Conference (LEC) Regular Season Championship with Keene State, UMass Dartmouth and Fitchburg State as all four team finished the regular season 9-2 in LEC action.  The Rams were defeated in the semifinals of the LEC Tournament by Keene State, who received the one seed in the ECAC Tournament.

The Rams, who are making their second straight appearance in the ECAC Tournament, were led this season by junior Kristen Sacco (Mendon, Mass.), who is leaving her mark on the FSC record book.  She leads the Rams in goals (20) and points (43) and during the season became the FSC All-Time leading scorer.  Senior Kali Barrett (North Attleboro, Mass.) is second on the team with 11 goals and 5 assists, while sophomore Kayleigh Force (Leominster, Mass.) set a new single season school record with 11 assists on the year.  Junior goalie Allesha Kenyon (Westford, Mass.) has compiled a 15-4 record which establishes a new school record for wins in a single season.  Kenyon, who has four shutouts on the season, has a GAA of 0.82 having only allowed 15 goals in over 1200 minutes of action.

Rounding out the tournament field are top seed Keene State who hosts number eight seed Plymouth State, number two seed the University of New England hosts seventh seed Southern Maine, and fourth seed WPI who hosts fifth seed New England College.  All of the quarterfinal matches take place on Wednesday, with the semifinals and finals taking place on Saturday and Sunday.
