Field Hockey Stays Atop LEC Standings Following 4-1 Win Over Western Connecticut

Danbury, Conn. - Framingham State College remains atop the Little East Conference field hockey standings following its 4-1 victory over Western Connecticut State University at The WAC Tuesday night.

Four different Rams scored as the visitors improved to 8-2 overall and 5-1 in the league. Coming into Tuesday action, four teams had identical 4-1 LEC records.

Katie Wotherspoon (Stafford, Conn.) and Kristen Socco (Mendon, Mass.) each had a goal and an assist to lead the Rams.

Katie Barry (Fairhaven, Mass.) notched her fifth goal of the season off a feed from Wotherspoon to give FSC a 1-0 lead at the 11:01 mark. Three minutes later Sacco added her team-leading 14th marker. Kayleigh Force (Leominster, Mass.) was credited with an assist on Sacco's and Wotherspoon's tally that came just before intermission to give the Rams a comfortable 3-0 lead at the break.

Kali Barrett (North Attleboro, Mass.), who is the Rams All-Time leading scorer, added an insurance goal, her eighth of the season with 17:01 left in the contest.

WestConn lit up the scoreboard when freshman forward Valerie Lupo (New Fairfield, Conn.) received a pass from Meredith Stuart (Washington, Conn.) and deposited the ball in the back of the cage with 5:01 remaining.

Allesha Kenyon (Westford, MA) earned the victory in goal for the Rams after making four saves. She gave way to Steph Bourgeois (Waltham, MA) for the final seven minutes. Bourgeois did not make a save.

Heather Stone (Valhalla, NY) made three saves for the Colonials, who fall to 3-9 overall and 1-5 in the LEC.

WestConn host UMass Dartmouth this Friday, October 6. Game time is slated for 7 p.m., while the Rams host Eastern Connecticut on Saturday at 2 p.m.
