Field Hockey Blanked by UMass Dartmouth

Framingham, MA - Sophomore forward Stephanie Kinchla (Falmouth, MA) scored two goals and picked up an assist to lead the UMass Dartmouth field hockey team to a 3-0 win over Framingham State in Little East Conference action today at Maple Street Field.

The Cosairs (12-5, 6-3 LEC) took a 1-0 lead 15:10 into the game when Kinchla took a pass from junior midfielder Kylie Treat (Hampstead, NH) and fired a shot for her first of the day.

UMass Dartmouth outshot the Rams (9-6, 4-5 LEC) 24-10 on the day and 17-2 in the second half alone as their offense controlled the game.  Kinchla scored her second of the day at 66:44 and gave the Cosairs a two goal cushion down the stretch.  Linee Mello-Frost (New Bedford, MA) assisted on the tally.  Junior Rebecca Stephens (North Andover, MA) scored off a cross from Kinchla in the final minute of play to finish the scoring.

Framingham State goalie Allesha Kenyon stopped 14 of the 24 shots she faced despite picking up the loss, while UMass Dartmouth goalie Seana Golden made three stops on the day.

The Rams return to action on Monday at 3:30 as they host Worcester State, while the Cosairs travel to Westfield State on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
