Football Falls to Mass. Maritime 21-6

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University football team was defeated 21-6 this afternoon by Massachusetts Maritime Academy in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Bowditch Field on Homecoming and Family Weekend.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • The Rams were led by senior receiver EJ Nichols who was presented with the Calder Award after the game. The award is presented to the Homecoming MVP for Framingham State in honor of former Ram John Calder. Nichols made eight catches in the game for 76 yards with a long of 20. 

  • Alex Maia had five catches for 42 yards for the Rams with a touchdown, while Camari Glasgow had two catches for 23 yards. 

  • Luke Thompson completed 14-of-21 passes for 109 yards and a touchdown, while Donovan Cole completed 6-of-19 for 63 yards. 

  • Korrey Barron paced the defense with nine tackles including 1.5 for a loss, while Carl Renaudin added eight tackles and a fumble recovery. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Buccaneers grabbed a 7-0 lead on the opening possession of the game with a seven yard touchdown run from Evan Pierce. 

  • Mass. Maritime extended the lead to 14-0 with a touchdown late in the first quarter on a 23 yard touchdown pass. 

  • The Rams got on the board in the closing minute of the second quarter when Maia caught a nine yard touchdown from Thompson capping a ten play, 65 yard drive. 

  • The Bucs added a final score in the third quarter to reach the final margin..

The Rams are back in action next Saturday when they host Plymouth State at 12 p.m.
