Football Sails Past Mass. Maritime 28-3

Buzzards Bay, Mass. - The Framingham State University football team scored 21 second quarter points as the Rams cruised to a 28-3 victory over Mass. Maritime this afternoon in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference action at Clean Harbors Field. 

THE BASICS:

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • The Rams amassed 403 yards of total offense in the game including 267 yards rushing. The Rams defense held the Bucs to just 148 yards of total offense including just 35 yards passing. 

  • Devaun Ford rushed for over 100 yards again as he acquired 134 yards on 26 carries with three scores. 

  • EJ Nichols rushed for 53 yards on eight carries, while completing 7-of-13 for 98 yards and a touchdown. 

  • Adeboye Oyaronbi led the defense with seven tackles, including six solo and a pass break up. Jared Martino chipped in with three sacks, while Chase Buono added three stops.  

  • The Rams received a pair of blocked kicks in the game from MoMo Naziere and Daniel Oloyede. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • After a scoreless first quarter, the Rams got on the board in the opening minute of the second on a four-yard touchdown run from Ford. 

  • The Rams pushed the lead to 14-0 later in the frame on a 25-yard touchdown pass from Nichols to Zylas Abney. 

  • Mass Maritime answered with a 22-yard field goal closing the gap to 14-3 with just over five to play in the half. 

  • The Rams added a one-yard touchdown from Ford in the final minute of the quarter to lead 21-3. 

  • The Rams tallied the only points of the second half on a 16-yard Ford touchdown run in the third quarter.
