Football Falls to Western Connecticut

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University football team was defeated 56-34 by Western Connecticut State University this afternoon in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference action at Bowditch Field. 

THE BASICS:

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Western Conn amassed 572 yards of offense in the game including 462 passing, while the Rams accumulated 383 yards of offense and 193 yards rushing. 

  • Devaun Ford rushed for our 100 yards for the fifth straight game. Ford carried the ball 27 times for 116 yards with a pair of scores while also making one catch for 12 yards. 

  • EJ Nichols completed 13-of-35 passes for 190 yards with a touchdown and two picks, while also rushing for 29 yards. 

  • Manny Lara caught five balls for 79 yards, while Johnny Rosario made three catches for 58 yards with a touchdown. 

  • Joshua Ramos rushed for 40 yards on three carries with a score and returned a pair of kicks for 111 yards including an 81-yard return for a touchdown. 

  • Keion Jones finished the game 17-for-36 for Western Conn for 462 yards and five touchdowns, while also rushing for a score. 

  • Dae'Shawn Allen made six catches in the game for 211 yards with three touchdowns, while Chad Blaszky rushed for 112 yards in the game with two touchdowns and made one catch for 30 yards and a score. 

  • Chase Buono paced the Rams defense with five tackles including four solo stops, while Bryce Williams added four solo stops and a pair of pass breakups. 

  • Nosa Uzamere paced the Wolves defense with nine solo stops, while Myles Wilson added three tacklss and an interception returned 31 yards. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Western Connecticut got on the board on the first possession of the game on a one-yard run from Blaszky. 

  • The Rams opened the second quarter with a 13 play, 70-yard drive capped by an 18-yard touchdown from Ford. After a botched snap on the extra point, the Rams trailed 7-6 with 13:33 to go in the half. 

  • The Wolves pushed the lead to 14-6 but the Rams countered with a four-yard touchdown from Ford to close the gap to 14-13 with just under five to play. WestConn added a late score in the second quarter and led 21-13 at the half. 

  • WestConn scored the only points of the third quarter on a 48-yard pass from Jones to Julian Ferguson. 

  • The two teams combined for 49 points in the fourth quarter to reach the final margin. The Rams received the kickoff return touchdown and a 12-yard score from Ramos, while Rosario added a three-yard touchdown reception.
