Football Charges to 40-7 Win at Fitchburg

Fitchburg, Mass. The Framingham State football team scored the first 40 points of the game en route to a 40-7 win over Fitchburg State in MASCAC action Saturday afternoon at Elliot Field.  

THE BASICS:

- Records:Framingham State (3-2, 3-1 MASCAC), Fitchburg State (0-6, 0-4 MASCAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

  • The Rams scored on their first possession when Devaun Ford finished off the five play 65-yard drive with a 37-yard touchdown run.  

  • EJ Nichols found Zylas Abney for the 11-yard TD strike late in the first quarter followed up by two second-quarter TDs by Ford, one in the air and one on the ground.  

  • MoMo Nazaire opened the second half with an 89-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and Joshua Ramos ripped off a 46 yard rush early in the 4th to cap the scoring for the Rams.  

 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • The Rams offense outpaced the Falcons 427 yards to 96. The Rams were led on the ground by Ford who ran for 157 yards and two touchdowns and caught two passes for 27 yards and a touchdown. Ramos picked up 119 yards on the ground and EJ Nichols completed 9-of-14 in the air for 125 yards and two touchdowns.  

  • The Rams held the Falcons to just 1.9 yards per play. They were paced by Jared Martino who made 8 tackles, 4.5 for a loss, and three sacks, while Nazaire made five tackles and ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
