Ford Rushes for 3 TDs as Football Defeats Plymouth State 24-14

Plymouth, N.H. - The Framingham State University football team received three rushing touchdowns and over 200 yards on the ground from Devaun Ford as the Rams defeated Plymouth State 24-14 this afternoon in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference action at Panther Field. 

THE BASICS:

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Ford, who averaged 7.4 yards per carry, paced the Rams ground attack which rushed for 251 yards in the game. Ford amassed 208 yards rushing on 28 carries with three touchdowns. 

  • EJ Nichols completed 13-of-24 passes for 142 yards in the game, while also rushing for 23 yards on six carries. 

  • Jaden Lewis was the Rams leading receiver with six catches for 86 yards. 

  • The Rams offense accumulated 393 yards in the game, while the Ram defense held the Panthers to just 217 yards of offense including just 28 yards on the ground. 

  • Jared Martino led the way with seven solo stops and a pair of sacks for a loss of 23 yards. MoMo Nazier added six tackles in the game, while Shawn Ashe added two solo stops and a sack. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Rams got on the board first with a one-yard touchdown run from Ford midway through the first quarter. 

  • Plymouth State answered with a 20-yard touchdown pass from Braden Lynn to Willie Lombard tying the game at 7-7 with 4:49 to go in the first. 

  • The Rams closed the quarter with Ford's second one-yard touchdown run of the game and took the lead for good. 

  • The Rams extended the lead to 21-7 early in the second quarter on another one-yard touchdown run by Ford. 

  • The Rams added a 25-yard field goal from Matthew Farley in the third quarter pushing the lead to 24-7. 

  • Plymouth added a fourth quarter score on another touchdown pass from Lynn to Lombard to reach the final margin.

The Rams are back in action next Saturday when they travel to Fitchburg State at 12 p.m.
