Football Chosen as MASCAC Preseason Favorite

Framingham, Mass.— The 2019 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Football regular season champion Framingham State has been tabbed picked by the coaches from around the league as the preseason favorite to win the 2021 crown.

The Rams earned six first place votes for 59 points to sit on top of this year's poll. They finished a perfect 8-0 to take home the MASCAC regular season title two seasons ago. Returning to the team are two major award winners from 2019.

MASCAC Offensive Rookie of the Year Devaun Ford (Mashpee, Mass.) returns after leading the league in total yards (1,003), yards per game (100.3), yards per rush (5.8) and was second in rushing touchdowns (9). On the other side of the ball, MASCAC Defensive Player of the Year Joshua Onujiogu (Wareham, Mass.) is back. He closed out the 2019 regular season with 44 tackles, including 24 solo along with eight sacks for a total loss of 47 yards.

Grabbing the second spot with 53 points is WestConn. Sitting in third is Bridgewater State with 52 points with UMass Dartmouth in the fourth spot with 46 points. Landing in fifth is Plymouth State with 35 points and Massachusetts Maritime comes in sixth with 34 points.

Coming up in seventh is Westfield State with 18 points and closing out the 2021 poll in eighth and ninth are Fitchburg State and Worcester State with 17 and 10 points, respectively.

The Rams open up their 2021 campaign when the host the College at Brockport on Saturday, September 4th at noon at Bowditch field.
