Defense Key as Football Sacks Plymouth State 34-0

Plymouth, N.H. - The Framingham State University football team held Plymouth State to just five first downs and just 53 yards of total offense in the game as the Rams defeated Panthers 34-0 in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Currier Field this afternoon.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• The Rams defense, which had five sacks in game, held the Panthers to 53 yards of offense in the game including nine net passing yards. The Panthers only managed five first downs in the contest and rushed for just 44 yards.
• Senior Joshua Onujiogu (Wareham, Mass.) paced the Rams defense with six tackles, five solo, and three sacks.
• Junior Facundo Isas (Fitchburg, Mass.) chipped in with four tackles including 1.5 sacks, while classmate Joshua Smiley (Springfield, Mass.) added three tackles and a half sack.
• The Rams offense amassed 470 yards of total offense in the contest including 330 through the air.
• Senior Adam Wojenski (Stratford, Conn.) once again had an outstanding day for the Rams completing 35 of 38 pass attempts for 285 yards with four touchdowns to four different receivers and no interceptions.
• Senior Jacob Maher (Marshfield, Mass.) and freshman Devaun Ford (Mashpee, Mass.) caught nine balls apiece for the Rams with Maher recording 99 yards and Ford 56. Ford also rushed for 69 yards on 13 carries with a score.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The Rams took the opening kickoff nearly 40 yards to set up their first drive. Seven plays later, Wojenski found junior Emmanuel Exilhomme (Roslindale, Mass.) for a 17-yard touchdown strike.
• After trading three-and-outs, senior Nick Lancia (Bedford, N.Y.) picked up back-to-back 11-yard gains on the ground, but the Panthers were forced to punt.
• Framingham State moved downfield on the ensuing possession, using 8:37 to cover 75 yards and Wojenski hit sophomore Austin Nunn (Bellingham, Mass.) for a six-yard score to make it 14-0 early in the second quarter.
• Wojenski added a three-yard TD pass to freshman Elijah Nichols (Burlington, N.J.) to cap a 16-play, 84-yard drive with less than two minutes remaining before the half.
• The Rams added touchdown drives on each of their first two possessions of the second half – first on a four-yard TD run from Ford and later on Wojenski's 25 yard scoring pass to sophomore William Jean (South Boston, Mass.).
