Auburndale, Fla. - The Framingham State University baseball team was defeated 17-3 in seven innings by Maritime (NY) this afternoon in non-conference action at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational.   

THE BASICS:

- Records: Framingham State (0-8), Maritime (NY) (9-3) 

- Location: Lake Myrtle Auburndale, Fla 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Rams grabbed a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Steven Burbank singled and Ryan Boyle reached on an error moving Burbank to third. Burbank came around to score when a pickoff attempt to first went wide. Robert Johnston followed with an RBI single to left. 

  • The Privateers tied the game in the bottom of the first on a two run homer and took the lead for good with three runs in the bottom of the third. 

  • Maritime would add four in the fourth before the Rams received an RBI single from JC Espinal in the top of the fifth. 

  • Maritime capped the scoring with five in the fifth and three in the sixth to reach the final margin. 

  • Lucas Basile finished the game 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and a run scored, while Burbank went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Shane Costello finished the game 1-for-3 with a double. 

  • Joshua Sunderland took the loss for the Rams going four innings allowing nine earned runs on 10 hits with five strikeouts.
