Baseball Rallies to tie Game Late but Rams Fall to Amherst in Ten Innings

Auburndale, Fla. - The Framingham State University baseball team rallied for a pair of runs in the top of the ninth to force extra innings, but Amherst walked off with the 9-6 victory over the Rams in extra innings this afternoon in non-conference action at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational.   

THE BASICS: 

-Scores:  Amherst 9, Framingham State 6 (10 Innings) 

- Records: Framingham State (0-7), Amherst (5-2) 

- Location: Lake Myrtle Auburndale, Fla 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • Amherst took a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. The Rams countered with four in the top of the third tying the game. Daniel Robichaud reached on an error scoring a pair of runs and Johnny Lynch added a two run single to left. 

  • Amherst added single runs in the bottom of the third and fourth taking a 6-4 lead. 

  • The lead stood until the top of the ninth when the Rams loaded the bases and Robert Johnston delivered a two run single to left tying the game. The Rams held Amherst scoreless in the bottom of the inning sending the game to extras. 

  • The Rams had runners on first and second with two outs in the top of the tenth but were unable to push a run across. 

  • Amherst had runners on second and third in the bottom of the tenth with two outs and Ryan McIntyre delivered a game-winning three run home run to left. 

  • Cameron Prescott started on the mound for the Rams and went six innings allowing six earned runs on nine hits with three strikeouts. Daniil Rye tossed two innings of scoreless relief allowing just two hits. Alexander Montero took the loss working the tenth and allowing three earned runs on two hits. 

  • Lynch finished the game 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI, while Johnston finished the day 3-for-5 with two RBI. Steven Burbank and JC Espinal each recorded a pair of hits in the game.
