Baseball Topples Worcester State 3-2

Worcester, Mass. - The Framingham State University baseball team erased a two-run deficit and held off Worcester State University to secure a 3-2 victory in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Kevin D Lyons Field.

-Scores:  Framingham State 3, Worcester State 2 

-Records: Framingham State (19-10, 9-3 MASCAC), Worcester State (12-16, 6-5 MASCAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • The Lancers grabbed the early lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning. 

  • The Rams plated three runs in the top of the third taking the lead for good. Caleb Hendrix plated a pair of runs with a double and Matthew Shaver added an RBI single in the inning. 

  • Vincent LoGuidice earned the victory on the mound for the Rams. LoGuidice went seven innings, allowing two runs, one earned, on six hits with five strikeouts. 

  • Anthony Panza earned the save by tossing a pair of scoreless innings without allowing a hit. 

  • Hendrix finished the game 2-for-5 with a double, two RBI and a run scored, while Ryan Boyle finished the day 3-for-5 with a double and a run scored.

The two teams are back in action tomorrow when they meet in Framingham for a pair of games beginning at 1 p.m.
