Baseball Holds Off Lasell for 11-7 Victory

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University baseball team defeated Lasell College 11-7 this afternoon in non-conference action at Bowditch Field.     

THE BASICS: 

-Scores:  Framingham State 11, Lasell 7 

-Records: Framingham State (18-10), Lasell (17-11)  

- Location: Bowditch Field Framingham, Mass. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • The Rams got on the board in the bottom of the first inning with three runs on RBI singles from Ryan Boyle and Lucas Basile and an RBI fielder's choice from Robert Johnston. 

  • Lasell got on the board with a run in the top of the third, but the Rams answered with one on sacrifice fly from Cam Gilroy in the bottom of the inning. 

  • The two teams traded runs in the fourth inning and the Rams led 5-2 after four. 

  • Lasell tallied a pair of runs in the top of the fifth closing the gap to 5-4, but the Rams scored three in the bottom of the sixth to push the lead to 8-4. Ryan Plocker and Steven Burbank plated runs with singles and Boyle grounded out to score the other. 

  • The Lasers once again closed the gap to one, 8-7, in the top of the seventh. 

  • The Rams plated three in the bottom of the eighth pushing the lead back to four. Caleb Hendrix plated a pair on a single down the leftfield line and Basile plated a run with a single. 

  • Anthony Panza earned the victory in relief by tossing two scoreless innings without allowing a hit. 

  • Burbank finished the game 4-for-5 with three runs scored and an RBI, while Hendrix finished the game with three hits and two RBI.

The Rams are back in action on Friday when they travel to Worcester State for a MASCAC game at 3 p.m.
