Baseball Swings Past Dean

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University baseball used a ten run third inning to blow open the game as the Rams defeated Dean College 26-3 this afternoon at Bowditch Field.     

THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Bulldogs grabbed a 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the top of the first inning, but the Rams cut the deficit in half on an RBI double from Cam Gilroy in the bottom of the second. 

  • The Rams plated 10 runs in the bottom of the third opening up a commanding 11-2 lead. The Rams received a two-run homer from Ryan Boyle and a solo shot from James Gilleran in the frame. 

  • After a scoreless fourth, the Rams added to their lead with two in the fifth and seven in the sixth. Dane Frellick and Gilroy chipped in with two run doubles. 

  • The Rams added two more in the seventh and four in the eighth and the Bulldogs tallied a run in the top of the ninth to reach the final margin. 

  • Boyle finished the game 4-for-5 with four runs scored, a home run and two doubles, while Gilroy finished with two doubles and three RBI. 

  • Lucas Basile went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBI, while Evan Kirkpatrick went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI. 

  • Joshua Sunderland started for the Rams and went three innings allowing two earned runs on four hits with five strikeouts, while Adam Martin earned the victory going three innings allowing no runs on three hits with five strikeouts.
