Baseball Powers Past Bridgewater State 15-0

Bridgewater, Mass. - The Framingham State University baseball received five hits from Shane Costello and eight innings on the mound from James Gilleran as the Rams defeated Bridgewater State 15-0 this afternoon in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Alumni Park.     

THE BASICS:

-Records: Framingham State (10-8, 3-1 MASCAC), Bridgewater State (15-6, 3-1 MASCAC)  

- Location: Alumni Park Bridgewater, Mass. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Costello finished the game 5-for-5 with a double, three runs scored and two RBI for the Rams, while Steven Burbank finished the day 4-for-4 at the plate with a double, three runs scored and an RBI. 

  • Ryan Boyle went 3-for-6 for the Rams with a homerun, three runs scored and four RBI, while Robert Johnston picked up two hits and two RBI in the game. 

  • Gilleran earned the victory on the mound, improving his record to 3-1 on the season. Gilleran went eight shutout innings, surrendering just two hits with five walks and nine strikeouts. Gilleran also went 1-for-4 at the plate with two RBI. 

  • The Rams got on the board in the top of the third inning on Boyle's three run homerun. 

  • The Rams extended the lead to 6-0 with three in the top of the fifth on an RBI ground out from Johnston and a two-run single from Gilleran. 

  • The Rams added sixth in the top of the seventh and three more in the ninth to reach the final margin.

The two teams are back in action on Friday in Framingham with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
