Baseball Splits Two with Mass. Maritime

Buzzards Bay, Mass. - The Framingham State University baseball team split a pair of games this afternoon with Mass. Maritime defeating the Bucs 5-1 in the opener before falling 3-2 in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Hendy Field.     

THE BASICS:

-Records: Framingham State (8-8, 2-1 MASCAC), Mass. Maritime (10-8, 1-2 MASCAC)  

- Location: Hendy Field – Buzzards Bay, Mass. 

Game 1: 

  • In the opener, the Rams scored five runs in the top of the first inning. Ryan Boyle and Robert Johnston each doubled home a run, while Matthew Shaver added a two run single. Shane Costello closed the inning with a bases loaded walk plating the final run. 

  • The Bucs got a run back in the bottom of the inning, but that was as close as they would get. 

  • Vincent LoGuide earned the victory on the mound going seven innings allowing just one earned run on four hits with a walk and seven strikeouts. 

  • Shaver finished the game with two hits, a run scored and two RBI, while Costello finished the game with two hits, a run scored and an RBI. 

Game 2: 

  • In game two, the Rams took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning on an RBI triple from Steven Burbank and an RBI groundout from Boyle, but the Bucs countered with three in the bottom of the inning taking the lead for good. 

  • Scott Nosky took the loss for the Rams on the mound in game two going four innings allowing three earned runs on four hits with four strikeouts. Anthony Panza tossed two innings of scoreless relief allowing just one hit. 

  • Johnston finished game two with two hits, while Burbank finished 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.

The Rams are back in action on Tuesday when they host Rivier at 3 p.m.
