Baseball Rallies for 7-5 Victory over Lesley

Lexington, Mass. - The Framingham State University baseball team rallied from a 5-0 deficit with seven unanswered runs as the Rams defeated Lesley 7-5 in non-conference action this evening at Minuteman High School.     

THE BASICS: 

-Scores:  Framingham State 7, Lesley 5 

-Records: Framingham State (6-5), Lesley (3-6)  

- Location: Minuteman High School Lexington, Mass. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Lesley jumped out to a 5-0 lead with two runs in the bottom of the fourth and three more in the bottom of the fourth. 

  • The Rams countered with four in the top of the fifth to close the gap to 5-4. Robert Johnston plated the first run with an RBI single and Ryan Boyle followed with a sacrifice fly. James Gilleran capped the inning with a two-run homer. 

  • The Rams tied the game on an RBI double down the right field line from Shane Costello in the top of the sixth. 

  • Steven Burbank scored on an error in the top of the seventh giving the Rams the lead for good. Boyle provided an insurance run in the top of the eighth when he plated a run on ground out. 

  • James Gilleran earned the victory on the mound for the Rams going five innings and allowing five runs, four earned, on four hits with three walks and eight strikeouts. Anthony Panza earned the save tossing four innings of scoreless relief allowing just one hit with six strikeouts.

The Rams and the Lynx are back in action again tomorrow night when they face off at 7 p.m.
