Greenville Walks Off with 11-10 Victory over Baseball

Tucson, AZ – Greenville scored seven runs in the final three innings as they came from behind to defeat the Framingham State University baseball team 11-10 in non-conference action at the Tucson Invitational Games.

With the win, Greenville is now 4-7 on the season, while the Rams move to 6-5.

The Rams grabbed the early lead in to top of the second inning on a leadoff solo homerun to left by senior Cameron Borrelli (Peabody, Mass.). Greenville answered back with two runs in the bottom of the frame to take a 2-1 lead.

The Rams tacked on three in the top of the third on an RBI single to left by junior Jordan Pallazola (Rockport, Mass.), an RBI groundout from senior Kyle Pileski (Bristol, Conn.) and an RBI infield single from junior Aaron Williams (Brockton, Mass.).

The Rams added four more in the top of the fourth extending their lead to 8-2.  Junior Matt Fogarty (Millis, Mass.) doubled in two runs and scored on a base hit by Pallazola.   After the Rams loaded the bases, Williams drew a walk forcing in the final run of the frame.

Greenville capitalized on a Ram error with the bases loaded in the bottom of the fourth to score a run and added a single run on a bases loaded fielder's choice in the bottom of the sixth.

Sophomore Anthony Venuti (Braintree, Mass.) hit a two run homerun in the top of the seventh pushing the lead to 10-4, but Greenville scored six in the bottom of the frame tying the game at 10-10.

After the Rams did not score in the top of the ninth, Greenville loaded the bases in the bottom of the inning thanks to a pair of close calls on the bases.  Austin Marsh delivered the game winning single up the middle giving Greenville the victory.

Borrelli finished the game three-for-five at the plate for the Rams with two RBI and two runs scored, while Fogarty also collected three hits, two RBI and two runs scored.  Venuti went two-for-four with two runs scored, two RBI and two walks, while Williams also added two hits and two RBI.

Freshman Michael Tucci (Danbury, Conn.) started on the mound for the Rams and did not factor in the decision. Tucci went five innings and allowed three runs, two earned, on five hits with three walks and two strikeouts.  Junior Blake Waters (East Sandwich, Mass.) took the loss for the Rams allowing one unearned run in the ninth inning.

The Rams close out their trip to Arizona tomorrow afternoon when they face Carelton for a doubleheader beginning at 6 p.m. EDT.
