Baseball Tabbed for 4th in the MASCAC Preseason Poll

Framingham, Mass.- The Framingham State baseball team was predicted to finish fourth in the 2018 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Championship as voted on by the coaches from around the league.

The Rams received 28 points tied for fourth with Fitchburg State. The Rams had six wins last season and made an appearance in the MASCAC Championship Round of the Tournament. FSU returns the 2017 MASCAC Pitcher of the Year Kevin Connelly (Bolton, Mass.). He was first in the league with seven wins and third with a 2.35 ERA while holding his opponents to a .212 batting average. He threw five complete games, including three shutouts and totaled 63 strikeouts on the season.

Westfield State earned five first place votes for 45 points in this year's poll finishing as the favorite. Salem State was up next in second with one first place vote for 39 points. The reigning MASCAC Tournament Champions Worcester State are in the third slot with a first place vote for 35 points followed by the Rams and Fitchburg State  tied for fourth place  with 28 points.

Sitting in sixth with 18 points is Massachusetts Maritime, MCLA is seventh with 16 points and closing out the 2018 preseason poll is Bridgewater State in eighth with 15 points.

The Rams open their 2018 campaign with non-conference action vs. Nichols on Saturday, March 3rd at 11:00 am at the NEBC.
