Plymouth State Rallies to Defeat Baseball 14-9

Rindge, NH – The Framingham State University baseball team was defeated 14-9 this evening by Plymouth State University in non-conference action at Pappas Field on the campus of Franklin Pierce University.

With the win, Plymouth State improves to 10-7 on the year, while the Rams are now 12-11 on the season.

The Rams built a 9-5 lead after five innings, but surrendered nine runs over the final three innings as the Panthers came from behind to secure the victory.

The Rams were led by senior Ryan Wardwell (Hudson, Mass.) at the plate. Wardwell went 3-for-5 with a homerun, two runs scored and two RBI, while freshman Robert Higgins added a pair of hits, two runs scored and an RBI. Sophomore Aaron Williams (Brockton, Mass.) went 1-for-3 in the game with a double and two RBI, while junior Kyle Pileski (Bristol, Conn.) added two hits.

Sophomore Kyle Hodgson (Berkley, Mass.) started on the hill for the Rams and went seven innings and did not factor in the decision.  Hodgson allowed nine runs, eight earned, on 12 hits with 10 strikeouts.  Sophomore Blake Waters (East Sandwich, Mass.)  took the loss in relief allowing two unearned runs.

The Rams are back in action on Friday at Westfield State for a MASCAC doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
