Baseball Walks Off with 2-1 Victory over Roger Williams

Northboro, Mass. – Sophomore Jordan Pallazola (Rockport, Mass.) singled home the winning run in the bottom of the ninth as the Framingham State University baseball team walked off with a 2-1 victory over Roger Williams University this evening in non-conference action at the New England Baseball Complex.

With the win, the Rams even their season mark at 7-7, while the Hawks dip to 4-8 on the year.

The Rams grabbed a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Sophomore Aaron Williams (Brockton, Mass.) walked, stole second and third.  Pallazola followed with a walk and Williams came in to score as Pallazola was caught trying to steal second.

The 1-0 lead for the Rams would stand until the top of the sixth inning when sophomore Chris Bosco (North Andover, Mass.) singled and moved to third on a failed pickoff.  Eli Camner delivered a bunt single to Bosco tying the game.

The Rams had a chance to break the tie in the bottom of the eighth as they loaded the bases with one out, but Roger Williams was able to work out of the inning. 

The Hawks had a chance at the go ahead run in the top of the ninth with runners on first and second and one out.  Bosco delivered a single to right, but the runner from second was gunned down by Williams at the plate trying to score on the hit.

The Rams walked off with the win in the bottom of the ninth.  Sophomore Kyle Lippert (Carlsbad, Calif.) walked with two outs and stole second and moved to third on a throwing error by the catcher. Williams followed with a walk putting runners on the corners and Pallazola delivered a base hit to left scoring Lippert with the winning run.

Sophomore Kyle Hodgson (Berkley, Mass.) started on the mound for the Rams and went 7.2 innings allowing an unearned run on eight hits with nine strikeouts.  Junior Mike Andrews (Stoneham, Mass.) tossed an inning of scoreless relief, while sophomore Michael Raymond (Peabody, Mass.) earned the win tossing a third of an inning.

Junior Sam Bennett (Andover, Mass.) started for the Hawks and did not factor in the decision going six innings and allowing one run on one hit with nine strikeouts and seven walks.  Michael Farrell took the loss going two thirds of an inning and allowing an unearned run on a hit.

The Rams are back in action Thursday afternoon at Endicott at 3:30 p.m., while the Hawks travel to UMass Boston tomorrow at 3 p.m.
