Baseball Splits a Pair with Mount St. Joseph

Winter Haven, Fla. – The Framingham State University baseball team closed their southern trip splitting a pair of game with Mount St. Joseph this morning.  The Rams took the opener 1-0 behind a complete game effort from Al Wallach (Nahant, Mass.) before falling 12-3. The Rams return home 6-7.

Wallach earned his third victory of the season against Mount St. Joseph going seven innings allowing no runs on five hits with a walk and three strikeouts.

The Rams lone run of the game came in the top of the sixth inning on a bases loaded RBI single from senior Manny Powers (Malden, Mass.) that drove in sophomore Aaron Williams who led off the inning reaching base on an error.

Powers finished the game with two hits, while Williams stole a pair of bases.

The Rams dropped game two to Mount St. Joseph 12-3.  Mount St. Joseph jumped out to a 4-0 lead with two runs apiece in the first and third innings.  The Rams got a run back in the bottom of the third on a solo homer by freshman Anthony Herman (Stratford, Conn.).

Mount St. Joseph tacked on three more in the fifth and five in the sixth, while the Rams added two more in the fifth including an RBI single from Cameron Borelli (Peabody, Mass.) to reach the final margin.

Freshman Josh Jezouit (Williamstown, Mass.) took the loss going 4.2 innings and allowing seven runs, six earned, on 10 hits with three strikeouts and two walks.

The Rams are back in action on Monday night at the NEBC against Roger Williams University at 7 p.m.
