Late Runs Lift Trine Past Baseball 4-3

Winter Haven, Fla. – The Framingham State University baseball team surrendered four runs in the top of the ninth innings as they were defeated 4-3 by Trine University this morning at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational.

The Rams are now 5-6 on the year, while Trine improves to 5-3.

The Rams got on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning. Sophomore Jordan Pallazola (Rockport, Mass.) reached on an infield single and move to second on a pass ball.  Sophomore Kyle Dembrowski (Natick, Mass.) reached on an error allowing Pallazola to score from second.

The Rams added to their lead to 3-0 with a pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth.  Sophomore Aaron Williams (Brockton, Mass.) reached on an error and stole second.  Sophomore Kyle Lippert (Carlsbad, Calif.) walk and Williams and Lippert advanced on steals putting runners on second and third.  Pallazola delivered and a two RBI double to left.

Trine opened the top of the ninth with three straight singles to load the bases with no outs.  Zach Seder and Robert Ross delivered RBI singles tying the game at 3-3.  Kevin O'Malley put Trine in front for good with a sacrifice fly to right.

Junior Kevin Connelly (Bolton, Mass.) started for the Rams and went 8.1 innings allowing one run on five hits with eight strikeouts and did not factor in the decision.  Junior Brian Quinn (Fall River, Mass.) took the loss in relief allowing three earned runs on four hits.

The Rams close out their spring break action tomorrow with a doubleheader against Mount St. Joe's.
