Ninth Innings Rally Lifts Baseball to 3-2 Win over Roger Williams

Bristol, RI- The Framingham State University baseball team tallied a pair of runs in the ninth inning to defeat Roger Williams University 3-2 this afternoon on the road at Paolino Field.

Framingham State improved to 3-4 on the season with the victory, while the Hawks are now 7-6-1.

The Rams received a 3-for-4 performance and two RBI at the plate by junior Manny Powers (Malden, Mass.).

Freshman Kyle Hodgson earned the win for the Rams going eight innings, allowing one run on seven hits, with six strike outs.

Roger Williams finished the contest with nine hits as Matt Moskal went 5-for-3. Troy Deleon was charged with the loss going 8.1 innings and allowing three runs on six hits  with eight strike outs.

The game was scoreless for the first five innings until Eli Camner (Hamden, CT) homered to left center in the bottom of the fifth.

The Rams would follow in the seventh inning with a homer from Powers that tied the game.

In the ninth inning for the Rams Ryan Wardwell (Hudson, Mass.) singled to left field and was run for by Aaron Williams (Brockton, Mass.). A wild pitch advanced Williams to second base and then he stole third. On a failed pickoff attempt by the Hawks, Williams scored putting the Rams on top 2-1. Aaron Rios (Stratford, Conn.) followed with a pinch hit single for the Rams that advanced Kyle Pileski (Bristol, Conn.) to third. Powers singled to left field scoring Pileski with what would prove to be the game winning run.

The Hawks pushed across a run in the bottom of the frame, but senior Brendan McDonough (Chelmsford, Mass.) recorded the save to cap the victory.

The Rams are back in action tomorrow at Endicott at 3 p.m.
