Four Run Third Innings Lifts Wisconsin-Whitewater Past Baseball

Auburndale, Fla. – The Framingham State University baseball team surrendered four runs in the third inning as they were defeated 4-1 by Wisconsin-Whitewater in non-conference action this morning at Lake Myrtle Park.     

With the win, Whitewater improves to 2-0 on the season, while the Rams even their record at 2-2.

The Rams grabbed the early lead in their first at bat of the day.  Junior Cole Josselyn (Hampton, NH) laced a triple to right center and junior Ryan Wardwell (Hudson, Mass.) followed with an RBI groundout putting the Rams in the lead 1-0.

Whitewater batted around in the bottom of the third to take a 4-1 lead and score the final runs of the game.  Sophomore Daytona Bryden plated the first run on and an RBI single and Will Helbing followed with a two run triple.  Helbring scored on the play as the throw to third went wild allowing him to race home with the fourth run.

Sophomore Al Wallach tossed seven strong innings for the Rams suffering his first loss of the season.  Wallach allowed four runs, all earned, on nine hits with six strikeouts and just a single walk.  Senior Brendan McDonough (Chelmsford, Mass.) tossed an inning of scoreless relief and allowed just one walk.

Josselyn led the Rams offense going 2-for-4 in the game with a run scored, while freshman Anthony Venuti (Braintree, Mass.) also picked up a pair of hits.

The Rams are back in action tomorrow morning as they close out their Florida trip against Eastern Connecticut at Chain of Lakes Park at 9:30 a.m.
