FSU Athletic Hall of Famer Nicole Abbott ’01 to Participate in Second Straight CrossFit Games

Framingham, Mass. – Framingham State Athletic Hall of Famer Nicole Abbott '01 is participating in the 2019 CrossFit games from August 1-4 at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison Wisconsin.  The 2019 games are the first to operate under a new set of qualification rules.

Abbott, who competed in her first CrossFit games in 2018 and finished ranked fifth, is according to the CrossFit games website currently ranked fourth worldwide and third in the U.S. for women age 45-49.

During her three years in the black and gold from 1998-2000, the Rams were an impressive 44-10-2 overall and were 14-3-1 in the MASCAC. With Abbott on the field, the Rams captured two MASCAC Championships and made two NCAA Division III Tournament Appearances as well as winning an MAIAW Championship in 1998.

Abbott, who was a First Team All-MASCAC Selection in 1998, 1999 and 2000, was the 1998 MASCAC Women's Soccer Player of the Year & 2000-2001 Female Howard C. Smith Scholar Athlete Award winner. She is currently 5th all-time in career points (107) and tied for 5th all-time in goals (39). In 1998 she was ranked 29th in NCAA Division III for points in a season with 53.

Abbott, who grew up in Switzerland, graduated from Framingham State with a degree in secondary education and modern world languages. After graduation, she went on to teach Spanish and French as well as coach soccer at Gardner High School. Abbott, and her husband, Scott, currently reside in South Carolina with their three children, Leah, Dylan and Norah.
