Volleyball, Men’s Soccer and Women’s Soccer Set to Compete in This Week’s MASCAC Tournaments

Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University volleyball, men's soccer and women's soccer teams have all qualified for their respective Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Tournaments which will take place this week.

The volleyball team has earned the second seed in the 2017 MASCAC Volleyball Championship Tournament by virtue of their head-to-head victory over Westfield State University this past Saturday.  As the second seed, the Rams, who finished the regular season 14-17 overall and 5-2 in the MASCAC, earn a first bye in the Tournament.  The Rams will face the winner of the quarterfinal match between third seed Westfield State and sixth seed Salem State on Saturday at 5 p.m. in one semifinal match which will be played at top seed Worcester State University.

The Lancers, as the top seed, earn a bye to the semifinal round as well and host both semifinals and the final match on Saturday, November 4th.  The winner of the 2017 MASCAC Volleyball Tournament will receive the MASCAC's automatic bid to the 2017 NCAA Volleyball Championship Tournament.

The men's soccer team, who finished the regular season 8-9-1 overall and 4-3 in the MASCAC, has earned the fourth seed in the 2017 MASCAC Men's Soccer Championship Tournament and will host fifth seed Bridgewater State University in one quarterfinal contest on Tuesday, October 31st at 7 p.m. at Maple Street Field.  The winner of the contest will advance and face top seed Salem State University on Friday, November 3rd at 7 p.m. in Salem. 

Third seed Worcester State faces sixth seed Westfield State on Tuesday night in the other quarterfinal with the winner advancing to face second seed Massachusetts Maritime Academy on Friday night in the other semifinal.  The tournament will conclude on Sunday, November 5th at the highest remaining seed.  The winner of the 2017 MASCAC Men's Soccer Tournament will receive the MASCAC's automatic bid to the 2017 NCAA Men's Soccer Championship Tournament.

The women's soccer team, who finished the regular season 6-10-1 overall and 2-5 in the league, has qualified for the 2017 MASCAC Women's Soccer Championship Tournament as the sixth seed and will travel to third seed Bridgewater State University for a quarterfinal contest on Tuesday, October 31st at 7 p.m.  The winner will advance to face second seed Westfield State University on Friday, November 3rd at 4 p.m. in Westfield.

Fourth seed Salem State hosts fifth seed MCLA on Tuesday afternoon in the other quarterfinal with the winner advancing to face top seed Worcester State on Friday, November 3rd in the other semifinal.  The tournament will conclude on Sunday, November 5th at the highest remaining seed. The winner of the 2017 MASCAC Women's Soccer Tournament will receive the MASCAC's automatic bid to the 2017 NCAA Women's Soccer Championship Tournament.
